19 years ago today, two guys started a mobile detail business out of a Chevy Astro Van and called it We-C-Clean.

Back in 2007, entrepreneurship wasn't as cool as it is today. When we told people we were skipping college to run a detailing business, the strange looks came fast. Luckily we had parents who were entrepreneurs themselves, 100% in our corner, and that support made all the difference.

We marketed the way you had to back then. Pure grassroots. Business cards on windshields, handing them to Porsche drivers at red lights, knocking on every door we could find. One card left on a Range Rover outside a steakhouse turned into a client we detailed every Friday for 12 years.

From a Chevy Astro Van to a trailer to a custom E350 to a brand new Nissan NV. We kept building. In 2014 we were selected to the Air Force One Detailing Team at the Museum of Flight in Seattle and did it four consecutive years through 2017.

On this exact date in 2016, our 9th anniversary, We-C-Clean became Maryland Auto Spa. Three years later we sold the van, went all-in on the shop, joined the Modesta team, and never looked back.

Today we're coating Porsches, wrapping Mercedes, and protecting every car that comes through our doors right here in Silver Spring. Maryland Auto Spa has always been a family business.

This past Sunday we celebrated our 19th Anniversary Open House with so many of you. It was everything.

Thank you. All of you.

Summer in Maryland is harder on paint than most people realize.

Surface temps on a black hood in direct sun hit 180–200°F. At that heat, any contamination bonded to your clear coat; tar, sap and iron deposits etches deeper and faster. Wax, which breaks down around 160°F, strips out entirely by August. And sustained UV exposure is what causes the oxidation you see on older cars: that milky, chalky fade that no wash will fix.

A ceramic coating doesn't care about heat. It's glass-based chemistry; it doesn't melt, break down from UV, or strip in summer. What's there in May is still there in August. Still beading. Still blocking UV. Still protecting the clear coat underneath.

If your paint is going into summer unprotected, the time to change that is before the heat does the damage, not after.
