‼️ Have you seen these little yellow flowers now blooming throughout CVP? They’re Lesser Celandine, an invasive species that poses an ecological threat.

Lesser Celandine spreads aggressively, forming a dense mat that blocks the native spring wildflowers that birds & pollinators need to survive. Left alone, it can take over your yard. Sadly it’s overtaking the wildflowers in Capitol View/Homewood Park. (See 📷.)

For small infestations at home, act now:

🪏Dig up the plant & surrounding soil to remove the little bulbs & stems.
🗑️ Put the plant in a trash bag, not a lawn & leaf bag. Do not compost.
🧽Clean your tools & shoes.
⭐️ Bonus move: Plant a vigorous evergreen native, such as Golden Ragwort, in the spot to help prevent LC from returning.
