After fleeing violence in the Democratic Republic of , Léo lost much of his mobility and struggled to move independently.

In North Kivu, our teams work directly with people in need. Identified by community liaisons—residents trained by HI—Léo received a home visit from HI's physical therapists who assessed his needs. He then participated in sessions where he learned to use crutches and regained his strength and confidence.

Now, Léo travels to his appointments on his own and even helps connect others in his community to HI's services! 🤝

It is with deep sadness that we mourn the passing of Ndéye Dagué Guèye.

A committed member of Humanity & Inclusion's Federal Board of Directors since 2017, she was a powerful advocate for the rights of people with disabilities in Senegal and beyond. Her voice, always guided by solidarity, dignity, and social justice, helped advance our mission with both conviction and compassion.

Ndéye Dagué Guèye left a lasting mark on our organization and on everyone who had the privilege of working alongside her. Her commitment and dedication to human rights will remain a source of inspiration for us all. Our deepest sympathies go out to her family, her loved ones, and all those who shared her journey. 💙

HI teams responded immediately, providing cash assistance to help survivors meet their most urgent needs and training partners in disability-inclusive emergency response.

When climate strike, people with disabilities too often face barriers accessing aid and support. HI is working to ensure that no one is left behind — both now and in future emergencies.
