Masked agents in unmarked cars. Neighbors too afraid to answer the door. Families wondering if the person at the corner is law enforcement or something else entirely.
That's not public safety. That's the opposite of it.
Today, the County Council's Public Safety Committee unanimously passed my Unmask ICE Act to restore a basic principle: if you're enforcing the law in Montgomery County, your face and identification should be visible.
I introduced this legislation because Montgomery County shouldn't wait for permission to stand up for its values. I look forward to the full Council vote on April 28. Thank you to all the advocates and community members who have come out in support.
