With summer approaching our calls for service increase. Our officers were busy this Memorial Day weekend. Here are some of the highlights.
1. Our Flock Safety cameras notified SVPD officers that a stolen vehicle had entered our city. As officers were conducting an area check, the Ventura County Sheriffs Office located the stolen vehicle in the area of box canyon and a pursuit was initiated. At the termination of the pursuit VCSO requested assistance from SVPD, CHP, and LAPD. The stolen vehicle was recovered by the sheriffs office and the investigation is ongoing.
2. You may have seen officers/ traffic officers on Monday at a car meet conducting enforcement. This gray Infinity from Los Angeles caught the attention of one of the officers since its muffler was being held on by a shoelace and striking the ground. Investigation revealed that the vehicle had not been registered since 2022 and was towed.
3. While conducting enforcement from the same car meet. Traffic officers located two vehicles engaging in a speed contest within the city limits reaching speeds of over 100 mph. Both drivers of the vehicles were arrested for speed contest and their vehicles were impounded for 30 days.
