Just picked up new labels, and I am stoked level 11!
I am embarrassed to say how much I obsess over labels and names and the packaging. But I do it because I want people to open these things up and feel beautiful, to be delighted and to know that all these products are 100% natural and 100% formulated with intention. A big fat lip wand. A see-through label so you can see how the oil glistens in the sunlight and a name that transports you to a moment on the Prairie. Yaaassssss.

We love a great surprise. And when the talented Love Legacy popped by to pick up some Lone Tree Tallow a week or so ago, it was a true South Dakota prairie moment. Wait...you know her too? Wait...your bff is related to my aunt! Wait...you just visited who? He is one of my clients!

These are the things that make our Prairie and our connections so incredible. And of course she specializes in filming and photography for farms and ranches across South Dakota.

The Romans and Egyptians had it right.
Thousands of years ago, the Romans & the Egyptians were already cleansing their
skin with oil stored in alabaster jars. Cleansing oil wasn’t a beauty trend. It was hygiene, medicine, and ritual at the same time.

Romans anointed themselves in oil at the baths and lifted the day off with a curved bronze blade called a strigil. The oil pulled the day with it and the skin’s own barrier stayed where it belonged.

Five thousand years later, the chemistry hasn’t moved: like dissolves like. Your face makes oil for a reason. Sebum is part of the barrier that holds water in and keeps irritants out.

Most foaming cleansers can’t tell the difference between the grime you want gone and the lipids you need to keep, so they take both. That tight, squeaky feeling after washing isn’t clean. It’s your barrier, stripped.

Rinse No. 1 is a harkening back to history, with a nod to present. It is, on purpose, just oil. No surfactant. No emulsifier. No foam. And no castor oil because it's sticky on modern skin and there are better oils to do the same work - because nothing about washing your face should feel tacky on the way out.

You warm it between your hands, press it into a dry face, give it a minute to do its work, and lift the whole day away with a warm cloth.
