We are a branch of Blackbird Farm. All poultry are free range, hormone and antibiotic free. Layers are fed a soy-free diet, meaning eggs are officially soy-free.

Meat chickens. I’ve been asked by my 6 year old niece about my meat chickens. Why can’t we keep some? Well because they are a product of man- man had bred these birds to make them so they get big and produce a lot of meat. When that happens they cannot live a long happy life like a laying chicken due to their genetic build and make up. What will happen? Eventually their legs will eventually give out or they can have a heart attack so unfortunately they cannot live so long. But while they are not here for a long time, they will be treated with the utmost respect we can give them. They will live on a grassy pasture to scratch up bugs, in addition to their food, and soak up the sun on nice days. In response to this, my niece smiled while holding her chick and said “we’ll give them the best life ever”. That’s the best we can do.

The clean up crew. Eating vegetation, bugs, whatever their hearts desire. Less than a month left, but this flock is living their best life and that makes me happy. Do you know how your bird was raised?
