A Detroit nobody...

I came from very humble beginnings, raised in Southwest Detroit. My single digit years where filled with countless hospital stays due to severe asthma. Yet, with lots of prayer, medicine and hard work, I grew stronger and eventually aspired to be a baseball player. Sports kept me out of trouble and the gangs at bay. By my senior year though, my throwing arm was toast. I felt like a failure. I felt like I had let my family and friends down. The question loomed, what do I do now?

That same year on a rare vacation, I picked up a 20 dollar guitar at a road side stand to pass the hours of a long van ride home. Little did I know, God had perfectly orchestrated it all. Within weeks, I had discovered a dormant gift...music.

Soon, three chords turned into a passion that has given me purpose far beyond that of throwing a baseball. I'd spend hours in my stuffy attic room praising Jesus, and honing my craft. I enrolled in Bible college and kept practicing daily. A few years later, a little church in Wyandotte needed help with their music, and I sheepishly accepted the roll. Through a million bad notes, wrong chords, and wrong words, God grew me as a worship musician. Nearly 15 years later, I’ve held numerous Worship leader positions, traveled the country with a Christian band, and performed 100’s of gigs.

I love Jesus. I love music. I love to lead people in Worship to God, and I love that I am merely the conduit, not the lightning. I give Christ all glory when I perform, for it is by his grace an imperfect sinner like myself can lead others in Worship to God.
