I’m trying to capture the feeling of a long restful winter’s night in this painting. After a tumultuous week in the world, creating this painting helped me feel calmer. I hope peace is finding you wherever you are.

I’m finished with my first pastel painting on black sanded pastel paper. I have had so much fun with these paintings. This fall I was so inspired by the brilliant colors in the Japanese maple tree in my front yard. I’ve made several pieces reflecting that inspiration. The vibrant colors in this 9x12 painting remind me of stained glass windows and the joyful mood of the holidays.
