FYI - It’s probably best for 4th grade and up. There were a few swear words and 2 kissing scenes, plus the topic of unions, strikes, and poor working conditions might go over the heads of younger kids.

Somehow after living for many years in Austin and Dripping Springs, today marked our first visit to Terra Toys ATX, the largest toy store in Texas! It came highly recommended from a friend who was seeking out a specific toy and found it only there. We all loved Terra Toys so much that we actually went TWICE today. It has such a wonderful variety of inexpensive and fun little toys, like wind-ups and fidgets, as well as unique collectibles that are hard to find elsewhere. The book and puppet section alone put a huge smile on my face and kept us engaged in play for a long time, even with “big” kids. I found some great gifts for multiple ages and stages, as well as unique sparklers for the 4th. (Heads up that there is a small display of body part stuffies. A lot of questions will follow. 😬) Afterward, we wandered next door to Create Studio ATX and found the beautiful Emily Lex watercolor books we’ve been looking for. I also got a tour of the studio and learned about their open art time on the weekends and fun birthday party options. We could easily go back and spend another half day between the two places! For under $20 each, my kids enjoyed every attraction over and over again! I barely got any photos because they could safely run off on their own (in a pack with friends). The new expansion adds a lot of value, yet the price is still affordable! Plus, you can bring in your own food and drinks and rent a huge shade umbrella all day for $50, which can fit a group of 4-5 families to split the cost. The next time we go, we will start at the Joanne Land Playground next door prior to cooling off in the pools and racing on the Adventure River. Plus, we’ll allow time afterward for a visit to Ritas Italian Ice_,our favorite! 🍧
