This is how most 5 whys go....and you can tell the team is not impressed. Use root cause analysis tools how they were intended and actually work through the problem...not how AI Adam does... . Hmm 5 wives?, thanks Sora/Opus! Context is key!
Thank you to Elizabethtown College and Brenda Read-Daily for having our very own Adam Marsh speak yesterday about AI in manufacturing - the students had great questions and are genuinely curious how this is going to shape their new world.
His key message to students:
Manufacturing teams are brilliant—but they're buried in daily operations. They don't have TIME to master the AI tools you've been using for three years.
Most manufacturing runs on legacy systems. Paperwork that takes hours. Processes that exist because "that's how we've always done it."
You walk into these teams with AI fluency that's already second nature to you. You can ask "Why do we do it this way?" and immediately bring tools that transform those answers.
You're not replacing experience—you're adding immediate value to teams that desperately need what you already know.
80/20 Quality can give you the tools to track calibrated gages, record nonconformances, and conduct effective corrective actions. Don't be like me... http://8020quality.com

📊Most of us didn’t sign up to be statisticians.
But when it comes to quality and manufacturing systems, it can feel like that’s the expectation. Control charts, PPAP forms, Gage R&Rs… too often, the tools make things harder than they need to be.
That’s why I sat down with Jay Arthur , founder of QI Macros and author of Lean Six Sigma Demystified. Jay has spent decades proving that you don’t need a stats degree to make meaningful improvements — you just need tools that keep it simple.
In our conversation, we cover:
• Why Excel turned out to be the perfect platform for SPC and PPAP
• How “select some data, click a button, get a chart” lowers the barrier for teams
• What makes QI Macros such a good fit for PPAP, FMEA, and MSA workflows
• Jay’s take on AI, automation, and the future of quality
My dad, Fred Marsh, always said: keep it simple. Jay built a whole company on that principle — and millions of people are using it today.
If you’ve ever wrestled with SPC or PPAP tools and thought, “there’s got to be an easier way,” this one’s for you.
Simplifying Quality with QI Macros: A Conversation with Jay Arthur Adam Marsh sits down with Jay Arthur, creator of QI Macros, to explore how this Excel-based tool helps manufacturers and healthcare teams streamline SPC, PPA...

✈️ Don’t Miss the AI Flight
I was at the airport recently (yes, I’m that guy working on AI tools while my family rolls their eyes).
Sitting at Gate B6, it hit me that this new technology and change with AI is a lot like air travel.
Some people are early boarders (Group A — they even brought snacks). Others hang back until the last minute. A few are sprinting through the terminal, praying the doors aren’t shut.
Here’s the reality - the AI plane is taxiing, and you don’t want to be the one still hunting for your neck pillow.
We’re already seeing real impact across industries:
**Accounting & Finance: forecast reviews & audit prep
**Manufacturing: supplier docs & quality control
**Consulting: scenario testing without the sleepless nights
**Ops/Admin: automating the boring bits
This isn’t about robots stealing jobs. It’s about giving real teams better tools to do theirs.
So… are you boarding early, or waiting until the last call?
