So many enduring American traditions have roots in Pennsylvania. Today, we celebrate Flag Day. 🇺🇸

In 1888, William T. Kerr, the son of a Civil War veteran, founded the American Flag Day Association of Western Pennsylvania and spent decades advocating for national recognition of the Stars and Stripes. His efforts helped lead to the official designation of Flag Day on June 14, signed into law by President Harry Truman in 1949. 🖋️

Today, a Pennsylvania Historical Marker in Rennersdale recognizes Kerr as the "Father of Flag Day" and reminds us of the impact dedicated citizens can have on the nation they love. ✨
