🌱 The answer was of course Leaf Spot.

🏡 With the cool, cloudy and rainy conditions we have experienced lately, this disease begins to pop up in lawns.

🌱 Drier, sunnier weather will usually help your lawn rebound from this disease on its own.

🏡 Mowing at a higher setting and only watering as needed will also help your lawn recover, should you notice any of these lesions on the grass blades.

We are busy putting down Fungicide Treatments for clients who experience Summer Patch disease, which we will touch on in our next post.

🌱 For an almost instant, quicker green up, performing the Spring Clean Up Mow will remove the winter damaged grass tips and expose newer, green growth underneath.

🏡 To do so, lower your mowing height low enough to remove the brown grass tips, bagging up the lawn clippings. Make sure not to mow too low that you scalp the lawn.

☀️ Once this winter dead is removed the sun will go to work warming up your soil and stimulating the photosynthesis process on the exposed green leaf tissue. All of this will lead to a quicker green up!

🌱 Make sure to raise your mowing height back to 3 inches for the rest of spring and mulch in
your lawn clippings.

🏡 This would be a great idea to do over the next few weeks as we begin to slowly emerge from winter dormancy.

🌱 Even though it may be winter we are still working hard towards enhancing our lawns by providing clients with lawn mower blade sharpening and tune up services.

🏡 Sharpening your lawn mower blades is a critical step towards a great looking lawn.

🌱 Dull mower blades rip and tear the grass, leaving behind a frayed grass tip (as pictured above). This will leave your lawn looking dull and increase the risk for lawn damaging disease.

🏡 Harmful pathogens have more surface area to enter and infect the grass plant when the tips are frayed.
