Tampa Port Authority announced today that the fuel truck loading areas at the gasoline barge terminal there are presently still being pumped of floodwaters caused by Milton. Three of the 10-11 gas companies served by the Port of Tampa should resume deliveries by the end of the day. The Port of Manatee, which also accepts fuel barges and, like the Port of Tampa, services much of West Central FL, including Tampa Bay and HERNANDO COUNTY have plenty of gas on hand on the fuel barges: it’s simply a matter of SAFELY offloading it onto over the road trucks. The Port of Manatee is presently offline because of challenging power losses there.
Much of the gasoline mentioned by Gov DeSantis is being delivered to targeted areas that got the worst of Milton.
If you don’t HAVE to drive…DON’T. Leave the fuel for the returning evacuees, the linemen, EMS, Fire and Rescue and the LEOs!! This is going to take time and patience!!
