What's your strategy for navigating high-stress situations as a leader?

After being an executive leadership coach for years, I can tell you that it requires more than just tactical business skills.

πŸ’Ž It demands an acute awareness of your body's signals and responses.

When I recently took on the unofficial role of wedding planner, reception event coordinator, and officiant for a friend's wedding, I was faced with numerous stressors. From coordinating tricky logistics to ensuring the ceremony met the diverse expectations of the family, the pressure was high.

🀩 What helped me stay resilient and graceful was my ability to listen to and understand my body's messages. I used my Attuned Leader Formula every step of the way so I didn't get depleted or too overwhelmed.

Research shows that effective leaders manage stress by paying attention to their body's signals and practicing mindfulness, which helps in maintaining a calm and focused mind under pressure. By tuning into these signals, leaders make better decisions, communicate more effectively, and are less depleted by the constant demands.

This body-focused approach to leadership and stress management is precisely what I'll be teaching in my upcoming complimentary virtual training for women, "The Well" on Thursday, June 6th, noon - 1:00 pm ET.

Join me and learn experientially how to apply the Attuned Leader Formula in your personal and professional life.

The steps are:
Receive the messages your body is communicating. That means to be intentional to notice them.
Reflect on what the sensation feels like and where it is located in your body.
Respond to that sensation in a way that supports your system to show up as you desire.

✨ Embracing the power of body language can be a game-changer in the workplace to build visibility and recognition! 🧨 If there's one situation where 'fake it until you make it' is justified, it's when intentionally shifting your body language to exude confidence and assertiveness. πŸ’ͺ

🚺 Women often face double binds in the workplace, where they're criticized for being too assertive or too passive. It can be a tough balance to strike, especially without strong female role models to look up to. But fear not, because you can fake it till you make it!

🌟 By consciously adjusting your body language and tone of voice, you can command respect and project confidence in any situation. Whether it's standing tall, making eye contact, or using strategic gestures, these small changes can make a big impact on how you're perceived at work. πŸ’«

πŸ‘©β€πŸ’Ό So next time you're feeling unsure or hesitant, remember that you have power in nonverbal communication.

This may go against conventional wisdom, but I believe, as women, we must be willing to communicate in moments when we feel discomfort or when our boundaries are being crossed. It's a critical key to our success. πŸ’ͺ

Unfortunately, many of us have been conditioned to fear pushback and criticism when we assert ourselves. But remember, our words should not be filtered through a 'too much' or 'not enough' trap.

By perpetually suppressing your voice, it trains others in how to treat you.

What stops you from speaking up when your body is nudging (or sometimes yelling) you to? Is it fear? Is it an internal voice that says, "Shhhhh. It's better not to call it out. Just deal with it?"

Imagine what's possible when you respond to those body messages and let them lead you!

--------------

If you're as inspired as I am to releasing the conditioning that keeps you from speaking up, then download and listen to Epsiode 026 on the Attuned Leadership for Women podcast. It's titled "Speak Like a Leader: Influential Communication Strategies with Alexia Vernon" for a reason. Whether you are entry level or a seasoned executive professional, this podcast has insights for you. πŸ’₯
