Last Wednesday night, Spring Hill EMS held an extrication drill simulating a rolled over school bus containing 20 patients. The training began with the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office setting up their Field Communications Unit and dispatching the call, followed by the Suffern Fire Department, Hillburn Fire Department, Spring Hill EMS, and New City EMS responding to the scene.
The fire departments then worked together with EMS crews to safely remove patients from the school bus. Patients were subsequently assessed, triaged, and treated by Spring Hill EMS and New City EMS before being transported to the appropriate hospitals.
Good Samaritan Hospital played a vital role in this drill and involved their trauma and emergency room teams in the exercise. Patients transported to Good Samaritan were registered, assigned rooms, and treated by ER providers as though they were real patients. Our crews had the opportunity to practice patient handoff reports and observe the ER staff in action.
This training was led by our Lieutenant of Training, Rebecca Finney, whose hard work and dedication helped make this complex exercise possible. We would also like to thank all of the role players who volunteered their time to help create a realistic training environment for everyone involved.
A sincere thank you to Arthur Ditzel from Good Samaritan Hospital for facilitating this drill, as well as all other parties involved. It was an invaluable experience, and we look forward to continuing to grow and train together.

Spring Hill EMS would like to thank everyone who came out to our EMS Experience Day. The event was a great success with a great turnout from the community. We are excited to share that multiple people applied to join our organization during the event, with additional applications submitted leading up to and after the event as well.
We would like to thank all of our members who dedicated their time and effort to make this event possible. Events like this would not happen without the hard work and commitment of our volunteers.
A special thank you to the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office for bringing their Field Communications Unit and helping create a real-life experience for attendees, especially during the mock cardiac arrest scenario where calls were dispatched and communicated with crews just like an actual emergency response.
Thank you to Hackensack University Medical Center for landing their medical helicopter in our parking lot and providing a demonstration for the community.
We would also like to thank New York State Department of Health Bureau of EMS and Good Samaritan Hospital Trauma Center for attending and setting up informational tables during the event.
We appreciate everyone who helped make the day such a success and look forward to continuing to educate and engage with our community.

On Friday, the President of the United States visited the Town of Ramapo in Rockland County. Spring Hill EMS was honored to provide an ALS ambulance as part of the motorcade operation.
We are grateful for the trust placed in our agency and proud to support the safety and medical needs of those visiting our community. This opportunity reflects the professionalism, preparedness, and dedication of our members, who continue to serve with pride during both routine operations and high-profile events.

Congratulations to crew chief Britney Zuñiga on graduating summa cm laude from Seton Hall University's second degree accelerated BSN program! Shining as a hard working and dedicated student, she received both the General Excellence Award and the Mary Ann Scharf Community Health Nursing Award. Not only did she complete her program with honors, she did it while remaining an active Spring Hill member and serving as chair of the blood drive committee.
Having passed the NCLEX, Britney now looks to begin working as an RN. We're excited to have been a part of her growth and wish Britney all the best in her career!
