Last night six members of the Spring Valley Academy Band, along with music teacher Tino Felicetta, performed Lean On Me with the band Switchfoot. A special thank you to Save the Music Western Regional Program Director Tonya Hylton and LMSV VAPA Coorindator Christian Tordahl for securing the grant funded by Switchfoot's Bro-Am Foundation to provide $80,000 of band instruments for SVA this past fall!

The Casa de Oro Cougar Choir had a wonderful performance last night. This is the primary grades choir. Ken Anderson has led this choir for years, and does an incredible job with them! Bravo CDO Cougar Choir!

La Mesa Arts Academy had a Spring Instrumental Music Concert Thursday evening. What a wonderful performance by our LMAAC student musicians! Listen to the debut of our steel drum ensemble, plus our steel drum ensemble and jazz band combined playing Hot, Hot, Hot! Congratulations to music teacher Mario Jativa for his continued fine work with our young musicians!

As part of the Save the Music grant awarded to Spring Valley Academy through the band Switchfoot's Bro-Am Foundation, the SVA band and the 6th graders had a visit from Switchfoot! Switchfoot listened to the SVA band play, played a song themselves, and then rehearsed with the SVA band. Members of the SVA band will be performing with Switchfoot at the Bro-Am Benefit Party and their Beachfest this June.

Congratulations to Tony Sacco, his team, and the students at Parkway Middle School for a great opening night of Newsies Jr! If you missed it, there are still performances 5/8/26 at 6:00 pm (doors open 5:15 pm), and 5/9/26 at 1:00 pm (doors open at 12:15 pm).

Congratulations to elementary VAPA music teacher Jessica Hubbard who has been accepted into the first cohort of the new Master of Music in Music Education degree program at San Diego State University!
