Navigating Today's Construction Market: A Tightrope Act

The construction and design world is moving — but not in a straight line. Every week brings new uncertainties: fluctuating tariffs, shifting supply chains, and cost challenges that impact even the best-laid plans.

At W&W Glass, we see it firsthand.

Architects are pushing for creativity. Owners are demanding budget certainty. Contractors are focused on schedules.

And we’re right in the middle, helping bridge the gap between vision, cost, and reality.

Fixed-price contracts and long project timelines mean that today's sourcing decisions must predict a future that is anything but certain.

A material specified today might face new tariffs or supply challenges by the time it's needed on site.

That's why we continue to:
✅ Stay close to design teams early in project life cycles.
✅ Monitor global and domestic sourcing carefully.
✅ Offer flexible, honest counsel about costs and options without sacrificing the design vision.

Domestic sourcing sounds like the easy answer — but the reality is complex. Many specialized materials either aren't made in the U.S., or double the cost if they are.

Bottom line:
We walk a tightrope every day, balancing the expectations of owners, contractors, and designers to bring complex projects to life — despite the shifting landscape.

If you’re designing, developing, or building today, let's talk.
We can help you navigate the uncertainty with clarity and confidence.

The team was putting on the night moves with jumbo 10’ x 30’ insulated laminated panels in the moonlight last night with The Empire State Building in the distance. Behind the shed, these 5000+ lbs glass panels are being glazed onto a custom, steel plate-packed 30’ tall stick-built aluminum mullion system. What a scene indeed! Keep your eyes peeled for some more beautiful work like this over the next few days.
