What is Happier Helmets?

My name is Caroline Holland and I am the mom of two little girls. My youngest daughter was diagnosed with Plagiocephaly and Brachycephaly and she got started on her DOC Band cranial helmet to start reshaping her skull. There were a lot of emotions going on during those initial stages. Sadness, overwhelm, financial stress, shame, because the last thing I wanted was for my little girl to have to endure wearing a helmet for 23 hours a day, and all the looks and questions that come along with it. I realized I had to make a change and turn this into a fun and positive experience for all of us. The first day we got her helmet, I spent 6 hours painting it. Just that small act changed the whole situation into something fun, exciting, and that made us proud to show off her new "crown" (as we call it). My three-year-old loves it and wants one of her own, our baby loves all the sweet and happy attention it brings, and it has made this journey happy and fun instead of sad and stressful.

I want to be able to spread some joy and happiness to other families that are going through the same journey!

That is where you come in! In order to keep this service completely free of charge for the families and little ones, I chose to rely solely on donations. Each band takes around 6-8 hours to complete and 8 different layers! Similar hand-painted services charge around $175-$300 per band. I knew in my heart that I didn't want to charge the receiving families and so your support allows us to keep it that way!
