Day 3: Don’t Play the God Card

Read: Jeremiah 23:21
God told Jeremiah, “I did not send these prophets, yet they have run with their message; I did not speak to them, yet they have prophesied.”

That is a serious warning.

Not everything wrapped in spiritual language is actually from God. Sometimes people use God’s name to give weight to their own desires, opinions, or agendas.

Using God’s name to justify what He has not said is a misuse of His name. It is possible to say, “God told me,” when we really mean, “I want this,” “I feel this,” or “This benefits me.”

The forge calls us to spiritual honesty.

God’s name should never be used as a tool to pressure, manipulate, or avoid accountability.

Journal today:
Where do I need to practice more humility before saying, “God said”?

Daily Challenge:
Pay attention to your spiritual language today. Instead of quickly saying, “God told me,” try saying, “I’m praying through this,” or “I sense God may be leading me.”

Practice humility with your words.

Oof.

Not every opinion needs a “God told me.”
Not every preference is a prophecy.
Not every personal desire carries divine authority.

Jeremiah 23:21 says:
“I did not send these prophets, yet they have run with their message…”
That’s a sobering reminder.

As believers, we should be careful not to weaponize spiritual language to control people, win arguments, or force outcomes.

God’s name is not a tool for manipulation.

It’s holy.

May we become people who speak with humility, wisdom, and honesty.
