Reading plans is more than looking at lines on paper. Every detail matters, especially when it comes to fire code.

On this project, the plans called for a 24-hour firewall between sections of the building. That means layered dense glass and the right caps to tie it all together. Knowing how to read these details on the plans and spot them in the field is part of the job.

Pulled up some Tamko shingles today and took a closer look at the self-sealing line. Solid feel out of the bundle, holds up better than I expected. Always worth checking how that seal lays before you call a shingle good or bad.
