TEXAS MAGIC GOLD
Magic Gold is one of the premier girls fastpitch teams in the country based out of Ft. Bend County, Texas.
Day 4 in Boulder at IDT: Whoa!!! 'Bad Day at Black Rock!' Yup, NOT a good day. We're showing our age by being so young and not being able to recover from miscues. We started out ahead of the St. Louis Chaos thanks to Hailee Rhodes 2-run bomb in the 1st inning, but couldn't hold it together. A game we should have one and let get away. Next game Magic ran into a buzz-saw called Corona Angels-Marty. 25 players on their roster and they played solid and hit like Magic normally does. Magic goes again Fri at 5pm local vs Washington Ladyhawks and then at 8:30pm vs KC Peppers. Told you we are in the strongest pool. Great test for our young players.
Day 3 in Boulder at the IDT. Started the day off with a victory over the AZ Hotshots, 10-8. Nicole Garcia had an incredible day today...started off with a hard shot leadoff up the middle and at her next at bat I'm praying that I could have that same hit due to runners on 2B and 3B but Nicole fouls off 4 or 5 before SMASHING a huge homerun over centerfield fence. a BLAST that almost went out of the slow pitch fence. It was a hard fought battle and a nail-biter until the end. Quite exciting. We went from the Penthouse to the Outhouse in one game. :-( Lost to CA Batbusters 12-0. It was one of those games where one team could do nothing wrong and everything fell where no one was and the other team couldn't get a break! We were the ones that couldn't get a break. Wasn't even worth being upset over....it comical, almost like another more powerful force took over. Yes, I know, a little too deep. This Magic team is GREAT and that game/score was not indicative of who they are. We start off tomorrow at 8am vs. St. Louis Chaos and then the Corona Angels-Marty. Wish us luck!
Tuesday night All Star game update... Briana Tijerina of Magic Gold and Kris Dietz of Magic 16U-Tovar were members of the 2017 All Star teams, unfortunately they faced each other. Bri had two at-bats and put the ball in play both times but was barely beatout by the throw to first. Bri had some great plays at second base and right field. Kris had the night of her life. She had 3 at bats, walked first time then hit a very hard grounder up the middle for a single, she eventually scored and her last at bat drove another hard line drive to right-center field fence. Again she scored. Kris was flawless at shortstop. In fact she threw out Bri in her last at bat. Bittersweet. I don't have words to express my gratitude and pride of both Bri and Kris' performance. They made Magic quite proud tonight! CONGRATULATIONS Bri and Kris!!!!
Day 2 in Boulder....another great day. Early morning game vs. So Cal Diamonds our kids won 3-1. Lots of hard playing and a 3-0 BOMB by Amanda Cunniff far over the left field fence for a solo homerun. Game 2 vs VA Legends was a 4-4 tie. Congratulations to Hailee Rhodes for her 2-run homerun in the first inning. Also, CONGRATS to Bri Tijerina for making the 2017 All Star team that plays tonight. Tomorrow is the beginning of Pool play. GO MAGIC!!!
Hello from Boulder, CO and the Louisville Slugger Independence Day Tournament. Day one not too bad. Kids did well considering they've not had a team practice since June 15th. Too many rain outs. We lost our first practice game vs. NJ Intensity 4-2. We started off slow and our timing was way off, due to too much time off. Came back strong but only so much you can do in 1 hour 15 min, drop-dead, game. Played IL Sparks and handled them well, 4-2. Sparks had an inside the park HR that would have been a double on a field with fences. Play again Tuesday morning back-to-back starting at 8am vs the So. Cal Diamonds and VA Legends. Wish us luck!

DON'T BLINK!!! It's an incredibly FAST game which makes it tremendously exciting, often nail-biting. MLB doesn't have it this tough.
