I now have one copy of the Comanche County History Book that was published in 1981. I also have a copy of the Vol II of the Comanche County History Book that was published in 2007. I will look up and post information on your family that is in these books if you email me.

My family (Mrs. Ruth Anna (Wymer) Melrose and my sisters
(my twin, Patricia) lived on N. Madison Street across from the Holler and the Morton families from abt. 1946 until we moved
to Dodge City during the summer of 1956. Our mother, Mrs. Hugh H. Melrose, was a WWII widow. She operated the Melrose Photography Studio in the front living room of our house for most of the years we lived in Protection. Our mom also was the photographer that took the elementary school class photos. Ruth graduated from Protection High School in 1932. Ruth's husband, Hugh Melrose was a soldier in the U.S. Army''s 90th Division, 357th Inf. Reg., Co. G. He was Killed In Action in Normandy, France several days after the D Day landings on June 6, 1944. Ruth never remarried.
