To brace or not to brace?

Hopefully many of you are keeping up with the announcement from the ATF that a final decision is expected in June of 2022 regarding the proposed change of regulation on pistol braces. 4 years ago this week ATF received an overwhelming amount of comments on bump stocks that were both unique and form letter based in opposition of banning bump stocks, yet without legislative process, reinterpreted the definition of a machine gun to include the bump stocks. Many of you have seen the proposed "point system" with subjective criteria that will allow agents to determine or classify a weapon as a Short Barreled Rifle (SBR) that is subject to the restrictions of the National Fi****ms Act of 1934. This system, if implemented, will be so overreaching, so indiscriminately applicable, that nearly every pistol, and especially EVERY braced pistol in the hands of every gun owner could be reclassified as an NFA item. If you oppose this type of change, you need to become VOCAL to your elected representatives, whether they support gun control or not. The power to make laws rests solely with Congress. The power to interpret laws rests solely with the Judicial branch. If those powers are then implemented without process by an agency that also enforces them, then the duties and responsibilities of your elected representatives are moot. Make a weekly or daily contact to your Congressional representatives. If they are pro-gun, demanded that they take a stand and get in front of this before mid-term elections if they value your vote. If they are anti-gun, remind them that the establishment of the Legislative and Judiciary branches of government exist for the purpose of preventing such an act by any agency, and by precident should ATF rewrite law without the involvement of either branch, then there is a fundamental breakdown in what should be strictly preserved. Even though they may not agree with the material behind the cause, they should absolutely oppose the principle of subverting the process of government.
