Safety Town Week 2 is Underway!

Our Safety Town students are hard at work learning important life skills, including the rules of the road and firearm safety.

The timing of these lessons couldn’t be more important. This morning, many of us opened the newspaper to read a heartbreaking story about a young child who found an unsecured firearm and accidentally shot a parent. Incidents like these serve as a powerful reminder that safety conversations aren’t just classroom lessons, they can save lives.

That’s one of the many reasons the City of Springboro is proud to be a designated Store It Safe community. Through this initiative, we encourage responsible firearm ownership by promoting the secure storage of fi****ms, medications, alcohol, and other potentially dangerous items that children may encounter.

Children are naturally curious. Safe storage helps ensure that a moment of curiosity doesn’t turn into a lifelong tragedy.

We are grateful for the opportunity to teach these important lessons to our youngest residents and appreciate the parents, volunteers, and community partners who help make Safety Town a success.

Together, we can build safer habits, safer homes, and a safer Springboro and Clearcreek Township.

Safety Town….loading… Our volunteers make it look easy to transform a gym into our small towns! We are so thankful for all of them who help us set up, tear down, and teach throughout the week. Most of them were once Safety Town students and loved it so much they come back every year.
