We are approaching our 2 year anniversary in Historic Springboro!
Before our location was Essential Yoga and Wellness, this building was home to Suburban Hippie. Every business on this street has a story, and ours started with theirs. This year we are celebrating our anniversary by celebrating the whole block that raised us. Each week we are featuring a few of the shops that make this historic district what it is.
This week: Blue Dog Books, the kind of cozy bookstore you do not realize you needed until you are standing in it. And Clay a While, where you can get your hands in the mud and reset your whole nervous system in one class.
Yoga has always been about community to us, and this block is proof of what that looks like off the mat too.
Speaking of community, do not miss Second Sundays Street Market this weekend, right here downtown.
Tell us your favorite purchase or memory of these shops!

Your nervous system knows something your scale doesn’t
That dip you see? That’s what happened during Ginger Snyder Nervous System Rest class this morning, moving from engaged/stressed straight down into restored.
This is what yoga actually does. It’s not just stretching. It’s training your body to access that restored state on command.
Here’s why this matters for perimenopause specifically. Cortisol (your stress hormone) and weight gain around the middle are closely linked. When you’re stuck in stressed or engaged mode all day, your body holds onto fat as a protective response. It also disrupts sleep, mood, and how your body handles blood sugar, all of which get harder during perimenopause anyway.
Time spent in a restored state isn’t a luxury. It’s the piece most wellness plans skip. You can’t out-exercise a nervous system that never gets to rest.
This is exactly why breathwork and restorative practices are built into what we do at the studio. It’s not about doing more. It’s about giving your body permission to actually recover.
