Join us for a free screening of GOD SAID GIVE ‘EM DRUM MACHINES (2022) in The Walker Room at on May 6 at 5:30pm — this is the story behind one of Detroit’s great contributions to world culture: Techno.

🎶 This electronic music phenomenon was created by Black artists in the 1980s and it transformed dance music internationally and blossomed into the multi-billion-dollar industry of EDM today.

🎤 Following the screening, director Kristian Hill and producer Jennifer Washington will have a Zoom Q & A session with the audience.

We’re back with another DEAD MEDIA MOVIE PARTY at ! ✨

🧐 In case you missed it last time, here’s how it works:

Step 1: Sign up to participate! 🙋 DM us and tell us which VHS tape you wanna watch from your collection! (Participation isn’t required to attend, but encouraged.)

Step 2: Bring the tape! 📼 This event requires you to
bring the actual, functional VHS tape of the movie.

Step 3: Show up and give a short pitch on why we should watch your tape! 📣 We’ll all vote after hearing the pitches and watch the winning tape!

So come share a movie with the club and honor the chunky, nostalgic aesthetic of VHS tape technology. 🤓

👣 Join us for a special screening of the stand-alone “sequel” BOGGY CREEK II: AND THE LEGEND CONTINUES (1983) on Friday, March 20 with the ! We’ll play b-movie bingo including bigfoot-themed prizes and attendees will also receive a limited-edition art print from Gus Carlson.

⚠️ IMPORTANT: This event is free for Shiloh Museum Members, but there are very limited seats available for the film club! Secure your spot by purchasing a ticket through the link in the bio — if those sell out, become a Museum Member to attend!

📽️ The movie: This stand-alone sequel to Boggy Creek follows a University of Arkansas professor and three of his students as they explore the Arkansas wilderness in search of the Boggy Creek monster. A “so bad it’s good” cult classic, Boggy Creek II was filmed in Arkansas and features notable Arkansas Ozark locations, actors, and lore.

Join us for HUNDREDS OF BEAVERS (2024) at on March 7 at 6:30pm! (Handshake is the wonderful new-ish restaurant at the Fayetteville Public Library, if you haven’t been yet.)

🧐About the movie: This modern gem with vintage vibes is a slapstick epic about a frostbitten battle between one man and, well, hundreds of beavers! 🦫🦫🦫🦫🦫🦫🦫🦫

Geek Vibes Nation says: “Hundreds of Beavers is a tour-de-force — a delightful romp through a universe of unlimited imagination, offering a viewing experience that is as entertaining as it is unconventional.”

The Handshake crew will be there slinging deliciousness that satiates the soul while we all take in a cinematic… dare we say it… masterpiece!?
