This weekend was the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims. It focuses on Victims and their families and advocates to make our communities safer.
In the past year, Hampden County has tragically lost 35 lives due to traffic accidents. Yellow shoes on the steps represented everyone of those individuals. And behind every shoe is an impacted family who will never see their loved one again. We need to slow down as a society and educate pedestrians alike.
The Springfield City Council in the last several years has passed a speed hump ordinance, advocated for increased signalized crosswalks and bike lanes slow down traffic. But much more needs to be done to keep residents safe. Councilor Delgado looks forward to working with his colleagues, Walk Bike Springfield and advocates to improve safety for everyone. One life lost is one too many.
Polls close at 8pm. Please vote DELGADO! There many amazing candidates as well.
