Continuing to look at some of the stones recently added to our inventory and to the items being gathered in preparation for the LOESS show.
Showing a picture of the latest cabachons added, Crazy Lace Agate. It is believed this stone was formed between 65-90 million years ago. This crystal has only been found in northern Mexico, more specifically in the state of Chihuahua. Just looking at it brings a smile, and in fact, it is referred to as the laughter stone or “Happy Lace”. In reading about the energy and the “powers” associated with this stone, I would have to call it an all around good guy. The swirls and lacy patterns create a circular flow of energy which stimulates the mind and attitude bringing creativity .
It promotes flexibility and liveliness and helps to overcome depression and despair, elevating thoughts and attitudes. It increases self-esteem. Crazy Lace Agate absorbs emotional pain, especially when worn as jewelry over the heart or throat.
Since I have a lack of knowledge as to how stones interact with each other, I was particularly glad to find the following:
Some of the best crystals to combine and use with Crazy Lace Agate include:
• Citrine – for happiness, abundance, and creativity
• Lapis Lazuli – for courage, strength, and wisdom
• Aquamarine – for peace, calming energy, and stress relief
• Amethyst – for spiritual growth and protection
• Rose Quartz – for love, compassion, and self-care

Kathy’s recent selection of these beautiful Chrysocolla cabs led to a discussion that revealed I’d been confused for a long time. I thought Azurite-Chrysocolla was just a hyphenated name for the same stone. So I began a quest to learn the differences between the two. This is what I now know.
Chrysocolla is a soft (on the Moh’s scale) stone found in the United States (as well as other countries) and is the national stone of Israel. For jewelry, we generally see it in a beautiful blue-green color but it can be found in a range of color including greenish brown. Because of it’s softness it is better suited for neclaces earrinhs and necklaces than it is for rings. Azurite is a harder stone and is found in a deep blue. In other wards, these stones may look very similar – or not. It sounds like they are easier to distinguish between in the raw state. To add to any confusion don’t forget about Chrysoprase. The name is the only confusing part. The stone is much different color that I would call green apple.
Besides it’s beauty Chrysocolla may be used to reduce mental tension and bring joy to life. It may help treat arthritis, bone disease, osteoporosis, muscle spasms, blood disorders, and lung problems.
Bottom line for me, whichever stone it is, these are beauties!
