Volunteers needed in a study on patient-centered outcomes after parotid surgery
Mayo Clinic researchers are seeking volunteers who have had a “parotidectomy” – a surgery to remove part or all of the parotid gland – to participate in a survey research study. The purpose of the study is to better understand the experiences of patients who have gone through parotid surgery with respect to their surgical outcomes, quality of life, mental health, and social well-being. Hello Parotid Community! The patient-centered research project that was funded by Parotid Patient Project has been released and is ready for patient enrollment. Due to restrictive patient privacy laws overseas, the Mayo Clinic can only enroll patients based in the United States to participate in the study.
Our parotid community members overseas will still be able to benefit from this study as the findings will be released to physicians across the world to use in their practices.
If you are based overseas, I want you to know that I hear you all and care very much about all of you. Your voices are heard and influence everything that I do through Parotid Patient Project, and your experiences matter.
If you are based in the United States, we have a unique opportunity to influence the future care and treatment of parotid tumors, and we need as many people as possible to participate in this survey. This is our time to unite as a community and let our voices be heard!
