I love seeing native plants in landscaping installments.

Here is a serviceberry tree also known as Shadbush or Juneberry. They are native to the Midwest and thrive in the majority of North America. Serviceberry is gorgeous and low maintenance which is one of the reasons it’s often used in landscaping. Beautiful white blooms are followed by small fruit similar in appearance and flavor to a blueberry and then followed by lovely fall foliage. They provide habitat for birds and are a larval host plant to over 100 species of butterflies. These are a small understory tree, growing 6-20 feet, perfect for a small yard or garden.

If you’re interested in adding a serviceberry to your home or garden, I have a few still available at the stand. $10 for a gallon sized pot at the roadside stand in Springfield 45502
