Then & Now: DeWitt's Auto Ranch

If you were driving up North Main Street in the 1950s, this is a sight you couldn't miss. DeWitt's Auto Ranch at 465 N. Main Street was one of Akron's best-known dealerships, selling Dodge and Rambler cars from its striking glass showroom.
At night, the bright neon signs lit up the building, making it a familiar landmark for anyone passing through the area. It was a different era, when buying a new car was an event and dealerships were built to stand out.

I colorized this photo to give a glimpse of what it may have looked like during its heyday. Now it's just another abandoned building...
