What a great evening celebrating the opening of two new exhibits now on display on the second floor of the Sangamon County Building.

In partnership with the Sangamon County Historical Society and the Springfield Art Association, the exhibits highlight the history of women’s baseball and softball in Sangamon County and feature baseball-themed artwork by Rod Buffington.

Thank you to everyone who helped bring these exhibits to life and to all who attended the opening reception.

The exhibits are free and open to the public during regular business hours through the end of July at the Sangamon County Building, 200 S. 9th St. in Springfield. We encourage the community to stop by and take a look. ⚾️🎨

Sangamon County is now accepting proposals from vendors interested in operating the café and grab-and-go retail space inside the new Springfield-Sangamon County Transportation HUB, scheduled to open in fall 2027.

The county is seeking a creative operator or partnership to provide food and beverage service, offer retail items, and create opportunities for local entrepreneurs in this new downtown space.

Interested applicants are encouraged to attend one of two informational sessions at Innovate Springfield, which will also be available via Zoom.

Proposal deadline: Friday, July 31 at noon.
