I’ve had clients do both, and it usually comes down to this:

Planning it yourself gives you flexibility—but it takes more time and energy while you’re there.

Guided trips take that off your plate—but you’re following a set plan.

What I’ve seen over the years is people are usually much happier once they pick the option that actually matches how they like to travel—not just what sounds like the best deal.
