Unpopular opinion:
“Take your hat off at my table” isn’t about respect — it’s a power move.
A hat doesn’t change how kind, present, or appreciative someone is. It doesn’t make the meal better. It doesn’t show character.
It just says: this is my house, my rules, comply.
Real respect is how you treat people — not whether fabric is on their head.
If the rule matters more than the relationship, that’s not manners… that’s control.
