Well the dances begin again. After hiring the great Paolo Maldini as technical director, FIGC president Malagò is now attempting to figure out who could be the next Italian national team coach.

Who are the contenders?

Pep Guardiola - Famous Spanish coach that knows Italian soccer well. He has won major titles with Barcelona, Manchester City, and Bayern Munich. Would be a feather in the cap of Malagò. However, he has seemed to take himself out of the running desiring a sabbatical.

Roberto Mancini - Former national coach, "hero of Wembley" in winning the 2021 Euros. He led the Azzurri to victory, but subsequently failed to qualify for the 2022 World Cup. However, he seems to have the ear of Malagò.

Andrea Pirlo: Former 2006 World Cup champion, manager of several clubs such as Juventus and Sampdoria and won the Supercoppa and Coppia Italiana. However, his managerial track record leads some to question whether he is ready for the reconstruction needed.

Raffaele Palladino - the newest name in the mix and with the least experience. However, he led a strong career with Monza and with Fiorentina and Is considered a rising star.

According to Malagò, the name will be revealed next week and the new Azzurri adventure will begin.

Antonio Conte: Former Juventus, Chelsea, and Napoli coach winning several league titles. He also led Italy to the quarterfinals in the 2016 Euros with a then considered unimpressive team. While a contender, he doesn't seem to be at the top.
