⬆️ this is usually the biggest concern parents have about family photos during the long summer hours.
- So let’s talk about it for a second and why it is so important to me.

I schedule almost all of my sessions for evening because of these key things.

• the lighting is softer
• the colors are richer
• that dreamy glow everyone loves.

Doing your session at sunset or 30-60 minutes before creates the glowy soft look you usually see throughout my portfolio.

As a mom of 9 who photographs my own kids and books my own family sessions with other photographers… kids rarely struggle because it is too late. If your kids are anything like mine, they actually struggle with these things:

• being hangry
• being rushed (this is a real trigger for one of my younger sons)
• feeling overwhelmed or overstimulated
• being expected to “sit still”

So instead of a family photoshoot we look at it as
• going for a walk
• picking flowers and searching for bugs
• playing ring around the Rosie or acting like airplanes.
• playing red light Greenlight or having a picnic
• tickle fights and doggy piles on dad
• getting up high on dads shoulders and seeing if you can reach mama for a kiss.

Things that don’t feel overwhelming and hard to not just the kids, but to mom and dad as well. 😉

So maybeeee this ONE time you move bedtime back by roughly 45 minutes to an hour won’t be as bad as you’re anticipating. And if it is, don’t worry. Chaos is my middle name. 🤪
