Meet Diego!
Diego is a 3-year-old terrier with the sturdy build of a "velvet hippo" and the confidence of a dog who's never once checked a scale. Right now he's carrying about 15 extra pounds—5 down, 10 to go! 😅 We laugh about it, but the truth is Diego could really use a dedicated diet and... a few less cookies. (Exercise. We meant exercise. 😉)

Despite his plus-sized situation, Diego is absolutely convinced he's a tiny, portable lap dog. Personal space isn't something he believes in, and if you sit down, he'll happily volunteer himself for cuddle duty. He is deeply affectionate with his people and is happiest when he's close enough to lean against you—or preferably, right in your lap.

Diego can be a little suspicious of strangers and does best with a confident adopter who can advocate for him and politely let well-meaning people know that he'd rather skip introductions. Once you've earned his trust, you'll have a fiercely loyal best friend who will keep you laughing every single day.

With someone who understands him, is committed to helping him continue his weight-loss journey, and appreciates a dog with a big personality, Diego will make an incredible companion. He's part watchdog, part lap warmer, and 100% convinced his favorite place in the world is right beside his person.

And ideally... nowhere near the cookie jar. 🍪❤️

You may remember this adorable little family—even if you don't quite recognize them! Just a short time ago, these sweet puppies came to CARE in desperate need of medical attention. Emmy and Dewey were both in critical, life-threatening condition—severely emaciated, covered in painful skin infections, and fighting just to survive.

Today... just look at them! 😍

After weeks of medical treatment, nutritious food, endless love, and the incredible support of our CARE family, all four puppies have made a remarkable recovery! Their coats have grown back, they've gained healthy weight, their playful personalities have blossomed, and they're finally ready for the next chapter of their lives.

🎉 The best news? Emmy and Dewey have found a wonderful foster home together- Hopefully soon to be a foster-fail! 😁

Now it's Alvin and Theodore's turn! These handsome boys are healthy, happy, full of love, and patiently waiting for families to call their own. 🐶🏡
