A message from our Mayor Sean VanGordon - Springfield, OR. Thank you to City of Springfield, Oregon Government and Springfield Utility Board for all of your hard work!
Our Mayor Sean VanGordon - Springfield, OR has prepared the following letter to community members in response to ice storm and we have launched a dedicated alerts page at https://springfield-or.gov/alerts for providing updates and other informational and resource links. We will continue to add more information to the page as it becomes available.
Additionally, late Tuesday night on January 16, we declared a state of emergency in response to the devastating ice storm that has hit our community. The decision was made to ensure the safety and well-being of Springfield community members and to effectively respond to the impact of this natural disaster. Our emergency services team is working tirelessly to continue to assess the situation and help those in need.
On January 17, 2024, Governor Tina Kotek joined us and Lane County in declaring Lane County a disaster. With these declarations, through Lane County, we can ask for available state and federal assistance.
We have opened our Emergency Operations Center and are working closely with our Team Springfield Partners – Springfield Utility Board, Springfield Public Schools - OR, and Willamalane Park and Recreation District. Also, working with other local agencies and state officials, to coordinate an effective response. We thank these dedicated individuals for their efforts in assisting our community.
