Meet legendary runner Maria Mutola on Thursday, July 3rd 5-7pm

Maria Mutola of Mozambique lived and trained in the Eugene/Springfield area during her brilliant International Track & Field career. She is widely considered the greatest 800 meter runner of all time. Maria Mutola is an Olympic Champion who won three Outdoor World Championships as well as a stunning seven Indoor World Championships. Her legacy includes an unprecedented sixteen times Champion of The Prefontaine Classic. To honor The Prefontaine Classic's winningest athlete ever, the meet has officially dedicated this, and all future women's 800m races to Maria Mutola.

Maria attended Springfield High School as part of the Olympic Solidarity Program and was coached by Margo Jennings during her unprecedented rise to World Class dominance. During Maria's amazing twenty year career in Track & Field she competed in a staggering six Olympic Games between 1988 and 2008.

10am - doors open for viewing our brand new curated collection of authentic Steve Prefontaine memorabilia. We've collaborated with the Department of Nike Archives to bring you these rare pieces celebrating Steve's life including his shoes, apparel and more.

5pm - meet and greet Maria Mutola. View over two decades of memorabilia celebrating her athletic achievements, from Springfield High School to Olympic Champion.

5:45pm - a brief Chat with Maria followed by Q&A.

6pm - Fun Run with Silenus Run Club. You'll have an opportunity to test run Nike shoes and win prizes including free Nike shoes and Prefontaine themed prizes.

7pm - The Party moves to Sunriver Brewing Co.
