Throwback Thursday Thoughts - Lowered Down

“And many were gathered together, so that there was no more room, not even at the door. And He was preaching the word to them. And they came, bringing to Him a paralytic carried by four men. And when they could not get near Him because of the crowd, they removed the roof above Him, and when they had made an opening, they let down the bed on which the paralytic lay.” Mark 2:2-4

There are two great parts to this story. The first is the one who carries, always bringing the helpless and hopeless to the only One that can give both help and hope. The second, and not less worthy, is the one who is carried, allowing themselves to be humbled to the point of complete dependency on the only One that can be depended upon. Dear friends, you cannot always assume only one role in this parable. If you are constantly being lowered, it is your turn to carry for a while. And if you are always carrying, please allow yourself to be lowered. Both experiences will change your life.
