Merry Christmas! My present to you this year is advise. I walk a thin line with brokering and dispatching. I dispatch more than broker to be fully transparent. I broker seasonal freight and Consult/dispatch for 4 trucking companies 365 days a year. A wise man told me yesterday that once you have done something for 7 years you can call yourself an expert. Last year was my 7th anniversary of being OBSESSED with the spot market but I am still not an expert. As this industy changes daily. That being said if you see this post you are likely seeing 100's of other pots from "dispatching companies" Just like I do every day. Do not be a new dispatchers guinea pig. Here are 5 questions to ask one of them if you absolutely feel you must.
1. How many trucks are you dispatching now?
2. May I have their contact information to see how happy they are with your service?
3. What kind of equipment do you dispatch. ( If they say eveerything RUN.
4. How long have you been in business. (If they just started in lat 2020 or 2021 you are not going to survive the first spot market turn.
5. What are your fees and do you have a contract. Never pay over 5% for a dispatcher if you have 48 or 53 foot equipment and I would NOT sign a contract.
Bonus question Can I see your numbers for the last month? If they say no and cannot provide a solid 30 days of numbers they are lying about experience and you just called their brother and best friends for references!

Really good dispatchers are not found on Facebook. They are found by word of mouth. But hopefully this helps someone!
