As we begin a new week, I want to take a moment to thank the agencies and utility partners who responded to Friday's storm in the Enon area.

Although the storm moved through quickly, it produced enough damage to require a coordinated response. Clark County Emergency Management Agency assisted the Enon Police Division with damage assessments and situational awareness. EMA worked alongside the Enon Police Division, Enon Public Works Department, and the Clark County Sheriff's Office to assess reported damage, identify hazards, and coordinate response efforts.

A local meteorologist also shared photographs of the damage with the National Weather Service to assist with any additional weather analysis. Reports of downed utility lines were promptly relayed to Ohio Edison and AT&T so crews could safely restore service.

Friday's storm serves as a reminder that severe weather can develop quickly and have an immediate impact on our community. As we continue through the summer storm season, we encourage everyone to remain weather aware and be prepared for changing conditions.

Storm Safety Reminders:

Have multiple ways to receive weather warnings, including Wireless Emergency Alerts, weather apps, local media, and NOAA Weather Radio.

If a Severe Thunderstorm Warning is issued, move indoors immediately and stay away from windows.

Never drive through flooded roadways. Turn Around, Don't Drown.

Stay at least 30 feet away from any downed power line and always assume it is energized.
Report downed power lines to your utility provider or call 9-1-1 if they present an immediate threat to public safety.

Review your family's emergency plan and keep phones and emergency supplies ready throughout storm season.

🌫️ Air Quality Advisory for Clark County & Southwest Ohio 🌫️

Clark County EMA is sharing the following information from the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (Ohio EPA) and the Regional Air Pollution Control Agency (RAPCA).

Smoke from the Canadian wildfires is impacting air quality across Ohio. RAPCA has issued an Air Quality Alert, and Ohio EPA has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory as fine particulate matter (PM2.5) is expected to reach levels ranging from Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups to Unhealthy, with some areas experiencing short periods of even poorer air quality.

If you are in a sensitive group—including children, older adults, pregnant individuals, or those with asthma, COPD, heart disease, or other respiratory conditions—consider limiting prolonged or strenuous outdoor activities.

Watch for symptoms such as:
• Wheezing or coughing
• Chest tightness
• Burning eyes, nose, or throat
• Dizziness or shortness of breath

To reduce your exposure:
✅ Keep windows and doors closed.
✅ Run your air conditioning if available and use a MERV-13 or higher filter when possible.
✅ Avoid outdoor burning.
✅ Limit the use of wood-burning stoves, fireplaces, and candles.
✅ Reduce strenuous outdoor activities until air quality improves.
