We had a great time working with this big love yesterday!

Apache is currently recovering from a partial CCL tear. Varying degrees of this type of leg injury are one of the most common reasons dogs come to us for swim therapy!

Unlike running or walking on land, swimming allows dogs to exercise without putting their full body weight on the injured leg. The warm water provides gentle resistance to rebuild muscle, improve range of motion, and increase endurance while reducing stress on the joints. We also want to do our best to keep the un-injured leg strong and healthy!

Recovery can be just as hard on a dog’s mind as their body. After weeks of limited activity, many dogs love having a safe way to exercise again. Swim therapy can help burn energy and lift their spirits while still protecting the healing knee.

P.S. Always consult with your vet to make sure warm water swimming is the right fit for your fur baby!

Hi πŸ˜ƒ

06/03/2026

This dog had a great workout πŸ’ͺ🏽

His activity tracking collar recorded a little over 9,000 steps during his 45-minute swim session! While this is in no way an exact science to measure or compare walking to swimming, it’s pretty cool that he completed 75% of his daily exercise goal in the pool 😎
