Yesterday, Children’s Foundation The Gambia (CFG) successfully trained 15 young changemakers on how to sew reusable sanitary pads. This initiative is part of CFG’s ongoing commitment to tackling period poverty and promoting menstrual health and hygiene within communities.

The training equipped participants with practical skills to produce safe, affordable, and environmentally friendly reusable pads. Beyond the technical aspect, the session also included discussions on menstrual health education, breaking myths and stigma surrounding menstruation, and the importance of ensuring that no girl misses school due to lack of sanitary products.

By empowering these young changemakers with both knowledge and skills, CFG aims to create an effect where they can support their peers and communities. This initiative not only addresses the immediate challenge of access to menstrual products but also promotes dignity, confidence, and sustainability among girls and young women.

Through such interventions, CFG continues to contribute to building inclusive communities where menstrual health is recognized as a fundamental right, not a privilege.
