The Church In The Wild
A ministry devoted to loving people and spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Woke up, having survived being hunted all night by Michael Myers, with the 10 plagues that God sent to Egypt before Pharaoh released the children of Israel. So I need to put those thoughts into form and share them otherwise they will drive me crazy. Years ago I realized that each plague was essentially a diss track to a specific god in the Egyptian pantheon . It was all to show that he is the true Almighty God. A God even to other gods. The originator of FAFO.
I think one teaching in Christianity that so many get wrong is that they say the other go don't exist. But then why would God address other nonexistent beings. Also the Bible doesn't say the others don't exist.
There is the concept of the divine council, popularized by Dr. Michael Heiser and it points out that the Bible talks about how Yahweh (God) is the Elohim (singular form) to all of the other Elohim (plural form). Elohim is just a spiritual being. But Yahweh is the Elohim unlike all other Elohim. He is the Almighty Elohim.
When the Babylonians built the Tower of Babel, God destroyed it and then assigned the nations of the world to be ruled by other lesser spiritual beings and would one day gather the people to restore the intended relationship between Him and man. Those beings were supposed to act like governors and submit to God as the supreme being. But they accepted the worship of men which was the problem. They were supposed to point to the Father.
So when God was removing the Israelites from Egypt. He sent the plagues to essentially humble Egypt to teach them that he is more powerful than any other gods. The gods were the Sons of God as mentioned in other places in the Bible. But since man had fallen from grace and began to sin (which btw sin isn't a specific list of things that are wrong, it's anything that separates you from God. But since man has a nature to be rebellious and lacks control in many ways over our desires.
He came up with a plan to restore the relationship in a way that makes allowance for the imperfections of man while still being able to be in our presence. Since God is holy, he can't allow unholiness in His presence. So he sent His ONLY begotten Son to come and be an example of how we should live. But sin is to miss the mark and if God is just, he has to punish sin. The payment for sin is death. While fun for a time, all sin eventually leads to destruction. Over eating leads to bad health and eventually death. Lust leads to unwanted pregnancy and disease and corrupted soul ties Wrath leads to murder etc etc. So Jesus came to be a substitute to take on the punishment that all sin will eventually encounter. Sin is a crime in the heavenly legal system. And God being just, has to punish sin. But just as when u go to court for a speeding ticket, u have to pay a fine. Jesus came and died in our place to pay that fine. Since our fine is paid we are able to walk free in life and be in direct relationship with God the father through the mediation of Jesus. The Holy Spirit being the 3rd aspect of God is the comforter to our soul and is the aspect of God that we experience in our active relationship with God the holy Spirit serves to guide us in our walk through life to avoid sin and live as we are supposed to.
The thing most people get wrong is that it's all about the sin but the sin is a biproduct of an unhealthy heart (in the spiritual sense) The truth of what Jesus came for was not to establish Christianity and dominion over the world. It was to wash away the corruption of our soul through sin. That's it. Otherwise the Bible is history, wisdom, apocalyptic, or poetic literature, legal doctrine for govt, standard practice for priests under the law before Jesus came to fulfill the law and each type of literature should be read and understood in its proper context. The most important part is to live like Jesus lived and trust in what he did on the Cross. Essentially God is the judge in court, Jesus is our defense attorney while the devil is the accusor/prosecutor. And he uses the things we do and say against us to try to make a case for why we should be destroyed. While Jesus mediates for and defends us to the father.
Accepting the sacrifice Jesus gave is not to say you'll never sin again. It's simply removing the sin from your record for all sins u hav committed and will ever commit. This isn't a license to live in sin. But more to illustrate that ur hearts relationship to sin is what matters. Do u revel in the sin or are u repentant.
The Bible says he casts the memory of our sins as far as the East is from the West. Also says he casts it into a Sea of Forgetfulness.while we struggle with our sin he still counts us as righteous because he is giving us credit as righteous because of the debt Jesus paid with his crucifixion. Jesus removed the spirital punishment for sin. It's not about a slave master lording over his slaves. It's about a father who loved his children that he incarnated into a physical body like ours. Set aside his own divinity and lived as a man to show us that we can live a holy life and when we treat each other the way Jesus taught. Everyone's lives are better. Relationship with God through Jesus removed the rules and regulations we had to adhere to to be in right standing with God. It freed us from the bo***ge that sin causes. Its freedom from the vices we struggle with.
It's when men try to elevate themselves as righteous that they screw it all up. Becoming self-righteous Bible thumpers rather than loving brothers and sisters. Jesus hated those type of actions in people. At every turn when he encountered someone living in sin he never condemned them. He always told them to go live their life and stop sinning. It was the encounter with his love and mercy that led them to change their ways. Not someone screaming at them about God hating them. Cuz he doesn't hate anyone. There are actions he hates but he still loves the person. One of those actions, I'd argue more than any other, that he hates is telling someone God hates them for any reason.
It's all meant to restore an estranged relationship between a father and his children. Trust in Jesus. Don't worry about anything else. Ask him to reveal himself to u. The teachings of Jesus is core, everything else is secondary. Don't try to change and get right with God just trust in Jesus. A true encounter with him will change u. A true relationship with Jesus changes ur desires and leads to changes in our lives. Sin is anything that gets in the way of the relationship with Jesus. We overcomplicate it and make it about something it isn't. And Hell is not necessarily what we have been taught. It's simply separation from God.
He will not force himself on you. He will respect that if u want nothing to do with him, he says okay and leaves u to it. But if u don't want anything to do with him he won't force u into his presence. Hell is called a place of weeping and gnashing of teeth, not because of eternal torture but because of eternal regret. We make our own hell because we reject the relationship with God through Christ.
You don't take a shower so u can take a bath to clean urself, in the same way you don't change ur ways to get right with God. You're being right with God is only found in relationship with him through Jesus and that relationship corrects our behavior to be how we are supposed to.
Reject religion. Trust and follow Jesus.
Every moment we waste on fear is a moment spent telling God that we don't trust him.
He is risen. Repent! He is coming soon.
The things that are triggering to us often reveal the things in our hearts that need healing.
