Box 27 wants to thank all firefighters, especially those from Springfield & Clark County for protecting us & running into danger to save lives & property. You are our heroes!

We were grateful to have the opportunity to support fellow Fire Divisions when they were definitely in need of rehab & food after hours of fighting this stubborn fire.
Just doing what we are always willing to do!

This year, we were proud to present our very first Friend of the Year Award — recognizing someone who goes above and beyond in support of the Springfield Professional Firefighters and truly embodies the spirit of community.

This year’s recipient is someone our firefighters know well. He answers the call, rarely says no, and when he can’t make something happen himself, he finds someone who can. Whether supporting the Friends Board or showing up in the middle of a cold night to serve alongside our crews, his dedication never wavers.

It is our honor to recognize Sam Mulkey, Chief of Box 27, as the 2026 Friend of the Year.

Thank you for always being there for the firefighters of the Local 333 and the Springfield community.
