Recently, Eric Klinner, CAE, Executive Vice President of AIA Illinois, testified before the Illinois House Higher Education Committee in support of House Resolution 678.
HR678 urges Illinois lawmakers to formally call on the U.S. Department of Education to reverse the regulatory reclassification of architecture graduate degrees from โprofessionalโ to โnon-professionalโ degrees.
Introduced by Representative Joyce Mason and written by the AIA Illinois legislative team, the resolution passed out of committee and will be reported favorably to the House floor for consideration!
This is a major step forward and a strong example of AIA Illinois advocacy in action. We will continue working to protect the value of architectural education, support the next generation of architects, and represent the profession where policy decisions are being made.

Who represents architects in Illinois government? ๐๏ธ
AIA Illinois does.
Through advocacy, legislative monitoring, and direct engagement with state leaders, AIA Illinois works to make sure architects have a voice in the decisions that shape our communities, our profession, and the built environment.
That is one more reason membership matters.
