December 1 is World AIDS Day. The efforts to eradicate this horrific disease continues — thank you for your prayers and your partnership.
Global AIDS Partnership held it's first World AIDS Day Prayer Vigil & Gallery. Although it was a cold night, people of all ages came and heard about the current status of the HIV/AIDS epidemic, then walked and prayed to the Eurasia Coffee & Tea Culture C-Street gallery where they experienced images of what life in Zambia is like and given the opportunity to help outfit a donated mobile health clinic in Zambia that will be used for HIV/AIDS testing, counseling of test results, and training in care of persons affected by the disease. Here's a clip of a local news coverage: http://www.fox5krbk.com/worldaidsday2015/
If you live in southwest Missouri (near Springfield), you're invited to join the Global AIDS Partnership on 12/01/15, World AIDS Day, for a Prayer Walk/Vigil & Art Gallery. The candle light prayer walk begins at 7:00 pm, from the Springfield Fire House #8 on Commercial St and will proceed to Culture on C-Street/Eurasia Cafe, where our art gallery will be. Walkers are invited for refreshments at the cafe and to enjoy the beautiful gallery images focused on life in Zambia, where GAP is assisting a mobile medical clinic that provides assistance to persons affected by HIV/AIDS. Please come join us!
“While at least six countries in Africa were providing antiretroviral medicines to at least 90% of pregnant women as of December 2013, only 27% of pregnant women living with HIV in Nigeria and 33% in the Democratic Republic of Congo received antiretrovirals; together, Nigeria and DRC were home to more than 200,000 pregnant women living with HIV last year.” (amFAR-AVAC Data Watch)
According to the amFAR-AVAC Data Watch: “The world’s capacity to end AIDS is jeopardized by uncertainties regarding AIDS financing. Total funding for HIV programs in low- and middle-income countries appears to have plateaued, with $19.1 billion available in 2013.”
Is your church planning any special activity or service for World AIDS Day (December 1st each year)? If so, what?
One of our Ministries, Network211, set a goal in 2008 to reach 10 million people in 10 years. Last night, the 9 millionth person responded!
