Our family kept this struggle pretty quiet. Only a handful were privy to the roller coaster we were riding. Those who saw him throughout the recovery process surely questioned our decision to continue efforts. It was a pretty sad sight in our barn at times.

It was definitely a bonding experience for Heath, Peyton and me as we dealt with twice daily splint changes, constant stall cleaning of insanely deep bedding, abscess care, monthly trips to MU for over a year, hand walking duties and more.

We met some amazing people along the way and are beyond thankful for Dr. Warren, Dr. Hayden and Dustyn and the full MU crew and students.

Tucker really does think he’s a real horse now. Every gallop in from the pasture makes us smile. Every ba****ck hack on the big couch brings happy tears to my eyes.

This guy has alway been special. Yes. It was worth it.
